Karien is a clinical psychologist who is passionate about supporting youth, adults and older adults to understand their mental ill-health and find ways to improve their well-being.

She comes from a strength-based approach rather than deficit-based approach. She gets to know her clients over time in a warm and empathic manner. Karien works with her clients to address their goals in an individualised, nonjudgmental and compassionate way.

These symbols represent autism, neurodivergence and LGBTIQA+ inclusion and acceptance.

Karien is an LGBTIQA+ ally and uses a pro-neurodiversity and strength-based approach with her clients. She has combined her clinical education with learning from people with lived experience to provide support.

She does not believe neurodiversity is something to fix or change but to respect, accept, embrace, empower and celebrate.
